Golden Gate Getaway: program | blog | register | postcard front / back | flyer | terraloco home
Original Announcement:
Eric Bone, head of MerGeo and U.S. national team member is setting sprint courses for all to enjoy. Stanford University features excellent campus terrain - great sprint challenges!
An interesting phenomenon is occuring near registration in White Plaza between 11:00 and 1:00: a reenactment of the toppling of the Berlin Wall. (20 year anniversary!) Avoid this during the course, which will be designed not to cross it, but definitely check it out when you're not on your course.
Details:
Registration open and courses open 11:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., courses close 5:00 P.M.
Cost $5, or included if you're registered for the whole week.
Registration is in front of the Tressider Student Union building.
Social afterwards in downtown Palo Alto - meet at University and High at 6:00 and we'll find a good place to grab food and drink.
Directions:
From Interstate 280, exit at Alpine Road (if coming
from the north) or Page Mill Road (if coming from the south) and drive
northeast to Junipero Serra Boulevard. Turn right onto Junipero Serra
from Alpine Rd, or left onto Junipero Serra from Page Mill Rd. Turn
onto Campus Drive East (not West), and go to Mayfield Avenue. Turn left
and follow Mayfield around a forced left turn. Park in the first
parking lot on your right. Registration is in ront of Tresidder Student
Union, the large building just north of the parking lot. You must pay for parking - options are detailed here.
The campus is also accessible from U.S. Highway 101, and you can take Oregon Expressway past El Camino Real, where it becomes Page Mill Road, up to Junipero Serra and turn right, then following the directions as above. More detailed directions are available at Stanford's website.
Public Transit:
CalTrain trains and VTA buses will get you to the Palo Alto Transit Center, where you can take the Marguerite shuttle to the Stanford campus. Anything that gets you to the student union is a good thing!
